FOOD DISCOVERY APP DESIGN - A COMPETITIVE STRATEGY

mobile app UI

DESIGNED TO DISCOVER WHAT YOU CRAVE

It was year 2013 when Mumbai-based food directory service wanted to be up to speed with latest UI/UX trends for their mobile app. Instead of a UI UX Design agency in Mumbai or Product Design Studios in Gurgaon, they reached out to Goa-based UI/UX Design Agency-- Screenroot. We solved their UX design problems by digging out real-life insights and applying them to make restaurant search a piece of cake.

SINGLE-HANDED HEURISTICS

A keyword-based static search may just end up showing the same restaurants over and over. Users need not go round and round to make a decision anymore. A rotary dial allows users to set various parameters and refine their search results basis location, cuisine, and time of visit. The spin-wheel interaction in turn makes it a lot smoother to select the parameters.

"FOOD APP DESIGN FOR CULINARY ENTHUSIASTS "

Research proves that whenever people plan on going out, they are most likely sure of what cuisine they want to eat or which restaurant they want to eat in. We used this insight and designed an interactive search tool that helps users find just the right experience.

NO WYSIWYG. FILTER WHAT THOU NOT CRAVE.

Digging deeper into this insight—whatever the users particularly want to eat eventually helps deciding which restaurant they’d eat in. Based on their preferences, users see a visual list of food offerings instead of restaurants to help them make their minds. They can swipe to hide certain dishes, and shake the phone to refresh the feed. Whatever makes their mouth water, wins! We loved designing this app.
